Care Map Method™:

The Therapist-Built System for Family Caregiving

Map before you act. Care before you place.

Care Map Method™ is a proprietary family caregiving system created by Tammy Gold, LCSW, MSW, CEC to help families understand, plan, and manage care for the people they love most: children, seniors, aging parents, and vulnerable family members.

Instead of waiting for a crisis, guessing what support is needed, or hiring care based only on availability, Care Map Method™ helps families assess the full person across four essential areas of need: Biological, Social, Emotional, and Environmental.

These four areas become the family’s Care Map™—a clear, practical guide for parenting, senior care planning, childcare selection, eldercare decisions, and ongoing care management.

What is Care Map Method™?

Care Map Method™ is a therapist-built caregiving formula for understanding what a child, senior, or vulnerable family member needs in order to be safe, supported, regulated, connected, and cared for.

The method is built around the BSE² Care Map™:

  • Biological needs: health, sleep, feeding, mobility, medication, safety, nutrition, stamina, physical care

  • Social needs: relationships, family support, communication, belonging, community, companionship

  • Emotional needs: attachment, trust, anxiety, grief, regulation, identity, dignity, confidence

  • Environmental needs: home setup, routines, school or care setting, accessibility, safety, structure, daily systems

Care Map Method™ can be used in two ways:

Care Map Method™ Family helps parents, seniors, and adult children map care needs and create a plan.

Care Map Method™ Professional uses the Care Map™ to select, interview, trial, onboard, and manage professional in-home or out-of-home care for children and seniors.

Why is Care Map Method™ needed?

Families are expected to make some of the hardest caregiving decisions of their lives without a map.

Parents are expected to know how to manage sleep, tantrums, separation anxiety, childcare, school transitions, emotional regulation, and family stress.

Adult children are expected to know when an aging parent needs help, whether home care is enough, how to choose assisted living or memory care, how to talk to siblings, and how to manage a paid caregiver inside the home.

But most families are not trained in caregiving, child development, senior care, interviewing, onboarding, employee management, or family systems.

That is why care becomes reactive instead of proactive. Families wait until something breaks: a fall, a caregiver quitting, a daycare problem, a parent refusing help, a toddler melting down, a senior becoming isolated, or a family conflict exploding.

Care Map Method™ gives families a calmer, more clinical, more structured way to ask:

What is really happening?
What does this person need?
What kind of care fits those needs?
How do we make sure that care keeps working over time?

How does Care Map Method™ help families?

Care Map Method™ helps families move from confusion to clarity.

Every session, worksheet, download, or professional care decision begins with the same question:

What does this child, senior, or family member need across all four Care Map areas?

From there, CMM helps families:

  • understand the full care picture

  • identify missing support

  • make proactive decisions

  • reduce caregiver overwhelm

  • select better care options

  • avoid rushed hiring decisions

  • onboard caregivers more clearly

  • manage care relationships over time

  • improve communication between family members

  • protect the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of the person receiving care

Care Map Method™ is not just advice. It is a structured system families can return to again and again.
